Yes.

2. What was the % of waste sent to non-hazardous landfill over the last five years – by council tax year?
2015/16: 14.13%
2016/17: 11.94%
2017/18: 7.39%
2018/19: 8.98%
2019/20: 5.15%

3. Please could you detail the top 10 landfill sites over the last three years used by % – by council tax year?
We have only sent waste directly to two non-hazardous waste landfills in the last 3 years. In all three years we sent the most waste to FCC’s Sutton Courtenay landfill. In 2019/20 and 2020/21, we also sent some waste to FCC’s Bletchley Landfill.

4. Have you (or authorities within your waste planning area) sent any items to landfill at Bletchley Landfill Site operated by FCC Environment in Milton Keynes? If so, why did you use this site?
The Bletchley site is used as a contingency when the Sutton Courtenay site is closed for long periods of time due to adverse weather, and we are unable to continue to hold the waste at the re3 sites. Its use is very rare.

5. Please confirm if the Council (or authorities within your waste planning area) is looking to decrease the amount sent to landfill and how the Council intends to do this
Yes we are and are looking to achieve this by reaching 70% recycling by 2030 and zero waste by 2050. Plans for this will be included in a “waste strategy 2021”.

6. How will you (or authorities within your waste planning area) balance landfill against climate change initiatives?
This will be encapsulated in our “Climate Change Emergency Strategy” which will aim to make us carbon neutral by 2050.
