I am requesting information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding carriageway repairs in the council area. I would like to request the following data:

1. Do you use internal or external contractors to facilitate the following pothole repairs, patching works, pre patching and small scale resurfacing projects.

2. What machinery do you use for pothole repairs, patching works, pre patching and small scale resurfacing works
Pothole repairs – Plate compactor
Patching – Compressor/hydraulic power pack, stihl saw, breakers, roller
Pre-patching – As above plus jet patcher
Small scale resurfacing – Planer, stihl saw, roller

3. How much do you spend per pothole repair on average via traditional methods and machinery repairs.
We do not have this information.

4. How much does it cost you to repair each identified pothole on average?
The average cost of each pothole repair in financial year 2024-25 was £104.36. Please note that some pothole repairs may involve more than one pothole, but this is not recorded. Accordingly, this value is an estimate, not an exact cost.

5. Are you in contact with a company for pothole/patching/pre-pathing repairs? if so who is this contractor with
We use our term contractor.

6. How many years does this contract have left to run for pothole/patching works.

7. What machinery have you reviewed/received a demo on to speed up carriageway repairs

Pothole and other carriageway repairs are funding from revenue.

9. Do you use your own internal teams for Highways repairs? In relation to potholes/ patching and pre patching?
No

10. What frameworks do you call upon for additional machinery or operatives, in relation to Highway repairs?
We don’t use frameworks for this work, carried out through our term maintenance contractor.
