Why is this necessary?

Voter ID is a requirement introduced by the Government’s Elections Act 2022 and will apply in England for all elections.

If you already have suitable ID, it is vital that you remember to bring it on the day.

If you turn up at a polling station without an accepted photo ID, you will not be issued with a ballot paper.
