Help for health during cost of living crisis
Services and support options
Helping others
Check on older neighbours or relatives, especially those living alone or who have serious illnesses to make sure they are safe, warm and well.
Get help with NHS prescriptions and health costs
Answer a few questions to find out what help you can get to pay for health costs such as prescriptions, eye and dental care.
Pharmacies
Check the map of local pharmacies and services they provide. This includes opening hours, address and services they offer.
Illness or disability
You or your family may be entitled to benefits for those experiencing illness or disability, these include:
- Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for adults under state retirement age
- Attendance Allowance for those over state retirement age
- Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for children under 16, new claims are not means-tested
Receiving these benefits may increase entitlement to other benefits such as Pension Credit and Council Tax support.
Seek advice if you are already claiming a disability benefit such as DLA for adults, as your award will stop if you claim PIP instead.
If you're too unwell to work, you may be entitled to New Style Employment and Support Allowance and/or Universal Credit with Limited Capability for Work or Work Related Activity.
