1.I'd like to know how the decision to put a path/road around Ashenbury Park was made and when & how much it has cost & where did the money that funded it come from?
We have received the following response from our Head of Environmental Services.
It is important to note that we have not put a path around Ashenbury park but have merely refurbished/enhanced the existing footpath on the site to improve the park accessibility (especially for those with mobility issues and in the winter months).

The decision to enhance the facilities at Ashenbury Park was made as part of the 2026/27 budget setting process which was approved at the full Council meeting on 26th February 2026 the agenda pack can be viewed on our website Agenda for Council on Thursday, 26th February, 2026, 7.00 pm | Wokingham, (https://wokingham.moderngov.co.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=131&MId=5218&Ver=4) Page 235 shows the expected revenue impact of the scheme and page 259 shows the capital investment of £200,000.

As part of the budget setting process this project was reviewed by the Community and Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Committee on the 4th November 2025 and the agenda pack (Public Pack)Agenda Document for Community and Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Committee, 04/11/2025 19:00 (https://wokingham.moderngov.co.uk/documents/g5271/Public%20reports%20pack%2004th-Nov-2025%2019.00%20Community%20and%20Corporate%20Overview%20and%20Scrutiny%20Committee.pdf?T=10) includes the detail on page 35 of how this Invest to Save scheme is to be funded from the introduction of car parking charges.
It is also worth noting that the works are not yet complete so we don’t yet have a final cost for the investment in this important local site.
