Gorse Ride Estate regeneration

Gorse RideĀ Estate regeneration

Proposed redevelopment of Gorse Ride in Finchampstead

We're working to regenerate the Gorse Ride Estate in order to provide high-quality homes in a great community.

The regeneration will take place in phases. The first phase  will be the demolition of Cockayne Court and some properties in Arnett Avenue (97 to 107 odd numbers) and 154 Barkham Ride.

Details of the redevelopment are yet to be finalised and will be subject to planning approval.

However early work shows between 40 and 46 homes could be built on the area proposed for demolition in phase 1 costing around £6 million. This is likely to be a mix of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments and 2 and 3 bedroom houses.

Phase 1

Wokingham Housing Limited (WHL) have formally submitted a planning application for the development of 46 new homes. The application is due to be determined at Planning Committee on 10 October 2018. You can view the planning application via the link below:

Phase 2

We are seeking your views on the refined Masterplan and detailed design options. These designs were presented to the Steering Group on 1 October 2018 and can be viewed via the link below.

If you would like to give us your views on the masterplan design options complete the Masterplan design options questionnaire (PDF document).

Steering group

A steering group of council tenants and owner occupiers as well as local councillors, our staff and other community stakeholders has been set up. This group will be responsible for making sure the community is fully involved and informed as the regeneration takes place. It will represent the interests of residents and wider community affected by the development proposals and work with Wokingham Council to influence the overall regeneration vision for Gorse Ride:
