Why is this necessary?

Voter ID is a requirement introduced by the Government’s Elections Act 2022 and will apply in England for all elections including the local and Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) election on Thursday 2 May.

If you already have suitable ID, it is vital that you remember to bring it on the day.

If you turn up at a polling station without an accepted photo ID, you will not be issued with a ballot paper.
