Matthewsgreen Farm

Matthewsgreen Farm

Current Project Status

The Matthewsgreen Farm section of the North Wokingham Distributor Road (NWDR) runs between the roundabout on Twyford Road and Toutley Road, through Matthewsgreen Farm and has now been delivered by the developer. This section is now open to the public and has been named as Queen’s Road.

Planning Application

Matthewsgreen Farm received outline planning consent in April 2015 following a planning application by developers Bovis Homes and Gleeson (Planning Ref O/2014/2242).

A reserved matters application (152649) for the detailed layout of the NWDR within the site was approved by the Planning Authority in March 2016. This was later slightly amended under planning application 162424.

Following reserved matters planning approval, this section of the NWDR was constructed under a Section 38 Agreement with Wokingham Borough Council as Local Highway Authority. The road, Queen’s Road, opened to the public in September 2018.

Design

Detailed design and construction has now been completed and the road is open to the public.

Construction

This section of the NWDR comprises a 30mph 7.3 metre wide carriageway, with a 3 to 3.5 metre wide footway/cycleway on both sides of the road, separated by a two metre tree lined verge.

Bus stops are included to accommodate the future Matthewsgreen bus service running between the site and the town centre and rail station. Approximately half way along the NWDR within the site is a signalised toucan crossing, which will enable pedestrians and cyclists to cross the road in the vicinity of the future neighbourhood centre and primary school.

At the eastern end of Queen’s Road (NWDR) is a new roundabout delivered by Bovis Homes, which links to Twyford Road and Bell Foundry Lane.

At the western end of Queen’s Road (NWDR), the road ties into Toutley Road via a re-aligned junction. The Toutley Road section of the NWDR will be delivered by the Council as a separate scheme.
