Current Project Status

Keephatch Beech is the section of the North Wokingham Distributor Road (NWDR) between Pebblestone Cottage / Diamond Jubilee Way and A329 London Road is being delivered by the developer Bellway Homes. This will be named Oak Avenue.

Planning Application

The Keephatch Beech section of the North Wokingham Distributor Road (NWDR) received outline planning consent in April 2015. This is part of a hybrid planning application by developers Bellway Homes and Shanly Developments for a residential development north of London Road (Planning Ref O/2014/2435).

A reserved matters application (153247) was approved by the Planning Authority for the residential development element of this site, along with some amendments to the NWDR.

Design and Construction

This section of the North Wokingham Distributor Road (Oak Avenue) is now under construction. It is due to be completed in 2019.

Oak Avenue is a 30mph 7.3 metre wide carriageway. It has a 2 to 3 metre wide footway/ cycleway on both sides of the road, separated by a 2 metre tree lined verge. Bus stops are included to accommodate the future bus services, and a new Park and Ride site will be delivered within the site near Coppid Beech roundabout.

At the southern end of Oak Avenue is a new signalised junction with London Road, currently being constructed. At the northern end within Keephatch Beech, the road ties into the Diamond Jubilee Way section of the North Wokingham Distributor Road (NWDR) . The section of Oak Avenue that crosses Binfield Road was upgraded to a new roundabout junction in April 2019.
