You can complete this form if you are a resident or business owner, and your request relates to a property which is on an adopted highway within Wokingham. You can find out if a road is adopted using our online map of roads we mantain (opens in a new window).

If you are a developer, do not apply using this form and email traffic.management@wokingham.gov.uk to discuss your requirements.

You must ensure you read the Wokingham Borough Council Domestic Vehicle Crossover Application Pack (PDF document) fully before applying.

Section 2: Location details

You must provide written permission from the owner if you are applying on their behalf. This should be sent via email to traffic.management@wokingham.gov.uk.

Will access be for domestic or industrial (heavy duty) use

Section 3: Planning permission

If you answer yes to either of the following then you must have planning permission before applying. You can apply for planning permission via the  Planning Portal website.

 
Does the property lie on a classified A, B, or C road
Is the property a maisonette, flat or apartment:

Section 4: Location plan

 

You must submit a plan which details where you want the dropped kerb to be located, e.g. a sketch or satellite image marking out where the dropped kerb is to be positioned. This must be detailed enough to allow an assessment officer to identify the exact  location of the dropped kerb.


If you are unable to upload your location plan then you can submit this via email to traffic.management@wokingham.gov.uk.

Section 5: Processing fee

A non-refundable processing fee of £179.30 must be paid in order for this application to be considered. To pay this fee, you must:

  • Make a payment of £179.30, selecting 'Traffic Management' as the Account Group, and 'Dropped Kerb Crossing' as the Account Type
  •  
  • Make a note of the receipt number and provide it below

 
Your application will not be processed if payment has not been made.

 

Section 6: Declarations

 

By submitting this application I declare that, to the best of my knowledge, the request is eligible for consideration in line with the requirements set out in Wokingham's Domestic Vehicle Crossover Application Pack (PDF document), namely:

        
  • The requested dropped kerb is not within 10 metres of a road junction
  •    
  • The requested dropped kerb will not affect the safe flow of traffic, nor the operation of traffic management measures, such as traffic lights or pedestrian crossings
  •    
  • The requested dropped kerb is not at the site of an existing bus stop, loading bay, parking bay, or lay-by
  •    
  • Implementing the requested dropped kerb will not require the removal of a healthy tree, nor lie under the canopy (or root protection area) of a tree
  •    
  • The property has the required amount of hardstanding, as set out in the Domestic Vehicle Crossover Application Pack
