Overview
Since April 2013, local authorities in England have been responsible for running their own local Council Tax Reduction schemes to help residents on a low income to pay Council Tax.

Pensioners remain protected by government regulation and the proposals we are putting forward in this consultation do not apply to pension age households.

Why We Are Consulting?
The council needs to consider whether to make changes to the current Council Tax Reduction Scheme due to the financial impact to the council as a result of COVID–19. Any changes made to the scheme are for the year starting April 2021. Therefore we are seeking your views on potential changes to the Council Tax Reduction scheme for working-age people that will take effect from April 2021.

The proposals are:

Proposed change 1 – Whether to include other incomes in the calculation of council tax reduction

Proposed change 2 – Whether to exclude other incomes in the calculation of council tax reduction

Proposed change 3 – Whether to change the scheme or for it to remain the same from April 2021

Please can you complete the survey to have your views considered, it will take between 5 and 10 minutes of your time.
