We've put together some virtual events for you to take part in, during the coronavirus pandemic. See below:


Every Friday we will post a Rhyme to share along with some Rhymetime inspiration to keep you going on our Rhymetime Facebook Page.

Check out the Tiny Happy People website, from the BBC, for more inspiration.


Last Tuesday of each month at 11am on Microsoft Teams.

Teen Writing Group 

Second Saturday of each month at 10:30am on Microsoft Teams.

Suitable for young people aged 11 to 18 years old.

Lifting the Sky in Words and Pictures

A series of three online illustrated talks by visual artist Chris Holley on the mutual creative inspiration between herself and poet Myra Schneider. Hear, see, and discuss the poems that inspired the painting and, in turn, the paintings that inspired the poems.

  • Tuesday 20 April 11am - Session 1 Hepworth Sculpture, a poem and a shawl: movement and a dynamic line
  • Monday 24 May 2pm - Session 2 Musical Inspiration and Creative interpretation
  • Wednesday 23 June 2pm - Session 3 Matisse and the soaring of the spirit

Authors Online with Ruqaya Izzidien - Monday 21 June 7pm to 8pm

Join us as we chat with this exciting new author and her novel The Watermelon Boys.

This session is funded by the BBC Novels That Shaped Our World project, and supported by Libraries Connected, BBC Novels and ACE (Arts Council England.)

Authors Online with Christy Lefteri - Tuesday 13 July 7pm to 8pm

Join us for this exciting session with Christy Lefteri, the best-selling author of The Beekeeper of Aleppo, as she discusses her writing career and new book Songbirds.

Book Chat - Thursday 15 July 2pm to 2.45pm

Join library staff for their latest book recommendations and bring your own favourites along too.
