Dogs are welcome at California and we provide dog bins for you to use. Please respect others by keeping your dog under control and don't allow them to foul in public areas. We don't allow dogs in the play park and near the paddling pool.

There are 2 walks at the park.

The Longmoor Lake walk is 0.9 miles long.

The Woodland Walk is 2.2 miles long. The Woodland Walk takes into the 8,000 year old Longmoor Bog on a specially constructed board walk. This is now a Site of Special Scientific Interest, due to it's abundance of rare sedges and mosses. This includes the Heathland, Longmoor Lake and woodland.

New play area coming in 2021

Next spring we'll be opening a new and improved play area at California Country Park. There'll be lots of new equipment, an inclusive sensory and water play area, a new woodland adventure trail and tree houses. Read the California Country Park play area news article for more details.

Construction starts October 2020

Construction of the new play area is due to start in October 2020.

Existing play area closing 5 October

The existing play area will close from Monday 5 October to allow for construction.

A children's play area is located near the bog and heathland. Boardwalk and laid paths provide easy access. Interesting wildlife such as sphagnum mosses, springtime orchids, adders, and silver studded blue butterflies can be found here and on the heathland.
