Changes to your Council Tax amount
Your Council Tax helps to pay for services provided by us, Thames Valley Police, and Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue service.
How we work the amount out
Increases for Wokingham Borough and Adult Social Care are worked out based on the standard charge (sum of both those elements) for the previous year, which is multiplied by the percentage shown on the bill.
The sum of Wokingham Borough charge for 2020 to 2021 and Adult Social Care charge for 2020 to 2021 is multiplied by 1.99 percent to calculate the Wokingham Borough element increase.
The same calculation is done for the Adult Social Care increase using the relevant percentage. The other charges are then added (parish, fire & police) to make up the total Council Tax charge.
Council Tax is calculated based on a band D charge. To calculate charges for other bands the following ratios are applied:
- Band A – 6:9
- Band B – 7:9
- Band C – 8:9
- Band D – 9:9
- Band E – 11:9
- Band F – 13:9
- Band G – 15:9
- Band H – 18:9
