Procuring of food for official functions and catering outlets
See notes
1. What policies, if any, does the council have in place for the sourcing and procuring of food produced in the United Kingdom for official functions and catering outlets?
The council does not have any specific policies relating to food provision and its origin it has indicated in its formal procured contracts with suppliers that suppliers must where possible local suppliers within a 100-150 mile radius
2. What proportion of food procured by the council in the financial year of 2023-24 was produced in the United Kingdom for: (a) official functions including, but not limited to, civic events and council meetings, and (b) catering outlets owned and/or managed by the council including, but not limited to, cafés?
The Council does not have a specific catering contract with a supplier for all its catering provision, we currently have 2 contracts one for school meals ending July 2025 and another one for one of our catering outlets at Dinton Country Park. The school meals contract requires the supplier to follow the school food regulations 2014 and the food standards. The catering outlet contract requires the provider to source food provision locally and maximise use of fresh produce.
