Police and Crime Commissioner, Borough and Parish Elections 2021

Police and Crime Commissioner, Borough and Parish Elections 2021

Elections - 6 May 2021

Elections scheduled for 7 May 2020 were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. They will now take place on Thursday 6 May 2021.

These elections will be held at a time when coronavirus still presents a risk to public health and a challenge to the holding of elections. The situation is likely to change over the coming weeks so we can't currently answer all the questions you may have about how the election will be run. However, we are working hard with central government, the Electoral Commission, the wider electoral community and public health authorities to help ensure you can stay safe when casting your vote this year.

Across the Wokingham Borough Council area residents will be voting for their Police and Crime Commissioner, and in some areas for their Borough Councillor. There are also some scheduled Parish council elections and 2 Town council by-elections.

Elections are scheduled in the following Borough and Parish Wards:

Scheduled Borough Wards (1 seat per ward):

  • St Nicholas Hurst Parish Council - Ashridge Ward (1 seat), Davis Street (1 seat) and Village Ward (8 seats)
  • Charvil Parish Council (10 seats)
  • Ruscombe Parish Council (8 seats)

Please note that the number of validly nominated candidates did not exceed the number of vacancies for the parish councils listed above. Therefore, these parish elections will not be contested on 6 May.

The following by-elections are scheduled:

  • Wokingham Town Council Wescott West Ward (1 seat)
  • Woodley Town Council Coronation East Ward (1 seat)

You can vote if you're a British, Irish, Commonwealth or EU citizen, aged 18 or over on the day of the election, and are registered to vote within our area. We will send a poll card to everyone eligible to vote around 29 March 2021, providing details of your current voting arrangements.

You can vote in a polling station, by post or by appointing someone you trust to vote on your behalf as your proxy.
