2019 General Election

A general election will now take place on Thursday 12 December 2019. See the timetable below for key deadlines and dates.

General election key dates

  • 6 November - Dissolution of Parliament
  • No later than 4pm on 11 November - Publication of notice of election  
  • 14 November (5pm) - Publication of statement of persons nominated, including notice of poll and situation of polling stations
  • 26 November - Deadline for receiving applications for registration
  • 26 November (5pm) - Deadline for receiving new postal vote and postal proxy applications, and for changes to existing postal or proxy votes
  • 4 December (5pm) - Deadline for receiving new applications to vote by proxy (not postal proxy or emergency proxies)
  • 6 December - First date that electors can apply for a replacement for lost postal votes
  • 12 December (7am to 10pm) - Polling day
  • 12 December (5pm) - Last time that electors can apply for re-issue of spoilt or lost postal votes   
  • 12 December (5pm) - Deadline for emergency proxy applications

Election notices

Statutory election notices will be published, below, when available.      

After the election result

  • 17 January 2020 assuming result is declared on 13 December - Delivery of return as to election expenses
  • 11 March 2020 - Deadline for sending postal vote identifier rejection notices

Parliamentary Constituencies 

Wokingham Borough does not only contain the Wokingham parliamentary constituency, it also contains parts of the neighbouring Bracknell, Maidenhead and Reading East constituencies too.

This means that not everyone in the Wokingham Borough votes for the Wokingham Member of Parliament. To find out which constituency you live in visit the UK Parliament website.
