Public Health funerals

Ensuring that all individuals are treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their circumstances

Funeral arrangements

Arrangements are made in a dignified and respectful manner, but there would be no funeral ceremony as such. There would be no headstone at the grave. In the event of a cremation the ashes would be scattered in the garden at the crematorium.

How the funeral is funded

The costs would be reclaimed by the council from the deceased person’s estate, unless the person had no money or assets in which case the costs would be met from the council’s funds. For this reason, we will only arrange a Public Health burial or cremation if there is no next of kin, relative or friend available to make the funeral arrangements.
