California Country Park covers 40 hectares and is set within 100 acres of ancient bogland and lowland heath. It offers scenic walks, wildlife watching, fishing and more. The park is open daily throughout the year. 

Dogs are welcome

Dogs are welcome at California and we provide dog bins for you to use. Please respect others by keeping your dog under control and don't allow them to foul in public areas.

Walks

There are 2 walks at the park. The Longmoor Lake walk is 0.9 miles long and The Woodland Walk is 2.2 miles long. The Woodland Walk takes into the 8,000 year old Longmoor Bog on a specially constructed board walk. This is now a Site of Special Scientific Interest, due to it's abundance of rare sedges and mosses. This includes the Heathland, Longmoor Lake and woodland.

Wildlife and play area

A children's play area is located near the bog and heathland. Boardwalk and laid paths provide easy access. Interesting wildlife such as sphagnum mossess, springtime orchids, adders, and silver studded blue butterflies can be found here and on the heathland. 

Paddling Pool

Price: £1 per person, payable via the car park machines. Exact change will be needed as no change is given on site. The term-time opening times are 10am to 4pm and 9.30am to 5.30pm in Summer Holidays (weather dependent).

California Dreaming Cafe

Located next to the main car park, California Dreaming Cafe is open daily. It sells a wide selection of hot and cold food, drinks, cakes and ice creams.

Parking

Car parking charges are:

• £1 for up to 1 hour
• £1.50 for 1 to 4 hours
• £2 for over 4 hours

Charges apply from 8am to 6.30pm daily. Pay and Display tickets are available from the car park ticket machine. For season ticket prices, read our Annual Season Ticket application form. 

Toilets and disabled access

There are toilets and baby changing facilities at the California Dreaming Cafe. Toilets are open during cafe opening hours. The toilets, cafe and lake path all have disabled access.
