Online payments
Our online payment service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and uses the highest standards of encryption to ensure it is safe and secure to use.
You can pay for the following online using your debit or credit card:
- Business Rates
- Council Tax
- Housing or garage rent
- Invoices for sundry debtors

Guidance notes
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Delta, Electron and Solo cards. Payment requests using this system are subject to authorisation and clearance timescales. Normal credit and debit card clearance cycles apply and it should never take more than 24 hours for your payment to be received and posted to us.
Payments of £1,000.00 or more
If you wish to make a payment of £1,000.00 or more we need specific authorisation from your card issuer. Therefore, this automated system will not allow you to make a payment over this amount. If you wish to make a payment of £1,000.00 or more, please telephone the Cashiers Office on 0118 974 6591 / 6592 during normal office hours and staff will help you make the payment required.
Making payments
To use our online payment service please have to hand the debit or credit card you intend to use and the account reference number for the bill that you wish to pay.
Your account number can be found:
- On your last bill for Council Tax and Business Rates
- Your last increase letter or Payment Card for rents
- Your invoice for sundry debtors
If you can't find your account number contact us during office hours: 8.30am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Automated telephone payments
You can also use our automated telephone payments system to pay for the same services by calling 0118 989 1609.
You will be asked a series of questions designed to give us the information that we require so that we can identify and credit your payment without delay. To use this service you will also need to have to hand the debit or credit card you intend to use and the account reference number for the bill that you wish to pay.
This system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week although it may be closed for short periods to enable essential maintenance.
Direct Debit
Direct Debit is the cheapest, safest and most efficient way to pay your bills. Download a Direct Debit form.
