School buses and transport services
Car sharing
Car sharing can be a good way to reduce congestion outside schools and reduce carbon emissions. Speak to your school to see if they have a car share scheme.
'Walking bus' or 'park and walk' scheme
A school 'walking bus' is a fun way for children to walk to school as a group, under the supervision of adult volunteers. The bus runs from pick up points near a school and will travel to the school via a risk assessed route. Adult volunteers will be people who are known to the school, mostly parents. They will supervise the children as they walk from the bus stop to school. Contact us if you'd like to set up your own walking scheme.
Special educational needs transport
Special education transport is provided based on your child's individual needs. Our Special Educational Needs Service will undertake a Transport Needs Assessment for your child. If you choose to send your child to a school that is further away from your home than another school that can meet your child's needs, you will be responsible for arranging and funding the transport to that school.
