Street lighting

We maintain the following types of lighting:

  • Highway lighting including illuminated signs and bollards
  • Amenity lighting for parks and other recreation areas
  • External housing department lights, for example lamp columns in our housing parking areas and footpaths
  • Car park lighting
  • Traffic lights

To find out if a street light is our responsibility use our Planweb mapping system.

Lights maintained by others

Read our list of street lighting areas that are not maintained by us. These areas are maintained privately or by town / parish councils, housing associations or developers.

We are currently operating a part-night lighting scheme. The scheme involves turning off street lights between around midnight and 5.30am. Read our part-night lighting page to find out more or send us your comments.

Report a faulty street light

Use our faulty street lighting form to report any faults.

Faults are usually fixed within 5 working days. Some repairs, such as replacement units or repairs that are the responsibility of the electricity utility company, may take up to 8 weeks.
