This year our Drink Drive campaign, supporting the Department for Transport's Think! national campaign for December, will be raising awareness of the penalties for and dangers of drink driving. 

The Road Safety Team, along with Officers from Thames Valley Police, were at Tesco on Finchampstead Road, Wokingham, on Wednesday, 14 December 2011 with lots of information and freebies.  As part of the campaign, the Borough Mayor, Councillor Dianne King, took a breathalyser test. 

Drink Driving

If you drive at twice the legal alcohol limit you are at least 30 times more likely to cause a road crash, than a driver who hasn't been drinking.

In 2009, 380 people died due to drink driving. By drinking and driving, you risk your life and those of your passengers and others on the road.  Any amount of alcohol affects your ability to drive. You risk a fine of up to £5,000, a minimum 12-month driving ban and a criminal record. Visit the Direct Gov website to learn more about drink driving.
