Local rubbish tips
The nearest local Household Waste Recycling Sites - civic amenity sites - are located at Longshot Lane, Bracknell and Smallmead, Reading. Visit the re3 website for locations.
Both sites deal with general household waste and recycling and are open to all Wokingham Borough residents.
Opening hours - Longshot Lane temporary site closure
From Monday 31 March 31 2008, Longshot Lane civic amenity site will be undergoing a major redevelopment, with work due to last until summer 2009.
Opening times during the construction will be, from 7 April 2008:

The site will be completely closed from Monday 31 March to Sunday 6 April 2008.
Please check opening hours before visiting
There may be times when the site needs to be closed at short notice due to construction work, so please check the site is open before making your journey by visiting the re3 website or calling free phone 0800 988 3023.
Please use Smallmead Household Waste and Recycling Centre at Island Road, Reading, where possible during Longshot Lane’s redevelopment. Smallmead will continue to be open as normal. For full details of opening times, charges and what can be disposed of visit the re3 website.
All household waste and recycling collections, including green waste, will take place as normal across the Wokingham Borough.
Trade Waste at Longshot Lane
Longshot Lane civic amenity site will not be able to accept any trade waste during the major redevelopment works scheduled from 31 March 2008 to summer 2009. However trade waste can be taken to Smallmead, Island Road, Reading.

Existing Longshot Lane traders who already hold accounts can have their account transferred to Smallmead. For details call WRG Customer Services on 0845 070 7079.

More details about the sites
Both facilities are part of a joint waste disposal contract between Bracknell Forest, Reading and Wokingham Borough councils and their contractor Waste Recycling Group - WRG. The 25-year contract is known as re3. To enable the recycling from these sites to increase please load your car with items in the following order:
- Paper, card, bottles and metal materials - which can be recycled
- Bricks, rubble and dirt - which can be recycled
- Green waste - which can be recycled
- Other items which can not be recycled
Asbestos
If you want to take asbestos to the tip you must call re3 Ltd on 01235 844534 to assess timings and availability.
If you remove hard bonded asbestos sheeting yourself you can take it to either Longshot Lane or Smallmead. Keep material damp and breakages to a minimum. You will also need to take a utility bill and personal identification and may be asked to complete an honesty form.
