How to report a street lighting fault
We will need the following information to enable us to repair the fault:
- Location, eg. road name and town
- Column number - normally displayed on the column itself - or nearest house number
- Fault description, eg. light out, lamp dim, intermittant, flashing, on at daytime, etc.
- Date the fault was last noticed

Emergencies
It is considered an emergency if a Council street light, illuminated sign, bollard, beacon or the like has been damaged so that:
- It is leaning dangerously
- It has been knocked down
- It could fall down or a part could fall off - such as the lantern or glazing bowl
- The electrical access door is missing or loose
- An essential sign face or bollard is missing or badly out of line
In the event of any of the above, or similar where a lighting unit may be considered a risk, telephone us on the above numbers.
Please note it is not considered an emergency if street lights are simply not functioning or the glazing bowl is missing.
Damaged electricity supply cables
Any damage to an electricity cable should be reported directly to Southern Electric PLC on 0845 770 8090.
