Council lights
Place and Neighbourhood Services maintains the following types of lighting:
- Highway lighting including illuminated signs and bollards
- Amenity lighting for parks and other recreation areas
- External housing department lights, for example lamp columns in our housing parking areas and footpaths
- Car park lighting
We are responsible for over 18,346 lighting units and associated electrical installations in the Borough, including:
- 15,090 lamp columns and lighting bollards
- 281 wall or bracket mounted lights eg. mounted on buildings, telegraph or electricity poles
- 65 subway lights
- 1,764 illuminated signs
- 42 pedestrian island beacons
- 24 zebra crossing beacons
- 95 school warning flasher units
- 780 illuminated traffic bollards
- 37 vehicle activated signs - VAS signs
- 168 feeder pillars and wall cabinets
In addition to the above we also maintain traffic signals.
