Council lights

Place and Neighbourhood Services maintains the following types of lighting:
 
  • Highway lighting including illuminated signs and bollards
  • Amenity lighting for parks and other recreation areas
  • External housing department lights, for example lamp columns in our housing parking areas and footpaths
  • Car park lighting
 
We are responsible for over 18,346 lighting units and associated electrical installations in the Borough, including:
 
  • 15,090 lamp columns and lighting bollards
  • 281 wall or bracket mounted lights eg. mounted on buildings, telegraph or electricity poles
  • 65 subway lights 
  • 1,764 illuminated signs
  • 42 pedestrian island beacons
  • 24 zebra crossing beacons
  • 95 school warning flasher units
  • 780 illuminated traffic bollards
  • 37 vehicle activated signs - VAS signs
  • 168 feeder pillars and wall cabinets
 
In addition to the above we also maintain traffic signals.
