Senior Railcards
If you are 60 or over you can apply for a Senior Railcard that entitles you to up to a third off the cost of most off-peak rail journeys.
The cost of obtaining a Railcard through the Council is £19.20 - saving you £4.80 or 20% compared to the normal cost if you go straight to a railway station for your card. Once issued the Railcard lasts for 12 months and then needs to be renewed.
You can apply for a Senior Railcard even if you already receive a Free Bus Pass or Travel Tokens from us.
If you are applying for a Railcard for the first time you should make your claim in person. You will need to complete an application form and provide proof of your age. Acceptable forms of proof are Birth Certificate, Passport or Driving Licence.
If you are renewing an existing Railcard, which you can do up to 2 months before your existing card expires, you can make your claim in person or by post. There is no need to supply proof of your age when renewing your existing Railcard.
When you make your claim to us you will be issued with an Exchange Voucher. Simply take this Voucher to your local manned railway station and you will be issued with a railcard. Railcards are normally issued straight away - there’s no need to wait for it to be sent to you.
Railcard Vouchers are available from the Cashiers Office at the Council Offices, Shute End, Wokingham or Earley Town Council Offices in Radstock Lane, Earley.
To save some time you can download and print the application form below and complete it before going to collect your Railcard Voucher.
