The introduction of self-directed support and personal budgets means that social care providers will need to make changes to their businesses as individuals begin to take control of their lives.

Microenterprises

Wokingham Borough Council provides advice and information for small business providing support services to vulnerable people such as home care, social activities and transport services. To access advice please contact the Commissioning and Development Manager

Microenterprises are small businesses employing up to five people and currently there are 11 such organisations within Wokingham borough. These businesses are managed by people with or without the experience of the social care sector who saw the introduction of self-directed support as a business opportunity offering increased choice and quality of service to people with a support or care requirement.
