Developing the market for Social Care

Improving choice, quality and value for money

The Putting People First programme for the transformation of Adult Social Care has already brought big changes to how care services are arranged and provided. More and more people now have a personal budget to spend on the services of their choice to meet their eligible social care needs in a much wider variety of ways.

New vision for Adult Social Care

These changes will be further developed through the new government Vision for Adult Social Care and the new commitments outlined in the Think local, act personal agreement between the government and other key stakeholders in the social care community.

How we will meet the challenges

To meet these new challenges and demands we will work closely with providers to commission new services, develop new forms of contracts and form new relationships to ensure that the market for social care is able to respond to customers’ needs.

Our Adult Social Care Plan

To help achieve this Wokingham Borough Council Adult Social Care has adopted a plan to develop the social care market to improve and increase:

• Choice
• Variety
• Quality
• Achievement of Outcomes and
• Value for money
