Local Involvement Network

Local Involvement Network (LINk)

LINk is an independent network of individuals and community groups who work together to improve local health and social care services in the Wokingham area.

The LINks is funded by the Government, but is independent of the NHS and Council, and has an indpendent host organisation called 'Help and Care'. For more information about how the LINk is set up please see the Makes a Change website.

About the work of LINk

The LINk:

  • Gives people the chance to say what they think about local health and social care services; what is working well and what is not so good
  • Checks how services are planned and run
  • Gives feedback to decision-makers on what people have said about services so that things can change for the better

The LINk has specific powers so it can say how local services should improve and is able to:

  • Make reports and recommendations to service providers and get a reply within a set amount of time
  • Ask service providers for information and get a reply within a set amount of time
  • Enter and view some types of services to see what they do
  • Tell the council’s Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee what it has found and receive a response
