Professional and self-advocacy

WEBCAS

Provides advocacy services for adults who are eligible for social care services, or anyone who needs advocacy support because of disability or illness. WEBCAS can we accessed directly or through social services.

CLASP and Take Notice

Self-advocacy groups supporting adults with learning disabilities - both these groups are supported by WEBCAS.

SEAP (South of England Advocacy Project)

SEAP provides advocacy services related to health care issues for people with mental health problems living in the Wokingham borough. Advocacy services provided by SEAP can be accessed directly or through social services.

Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA)

The Mental Capacity Act 2005 introduced the statutory Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy service for people who lack capacity. For example: people who suffer from dementia, a brain injury, a learning disability or a mental health need, and who are faced with decisions about serious medical treatment and long term care moves.

IMCA also get involved in safeguarding adults reviews. Health care professionals can refer people to the IMCA service.
