Wokingham's Carers' Strategy: 2008 to 2011

Published during Carers Week in June 2008, the Carers' Strategy 2008-2011 has been produced in partnership with local carers and relevant organisations. In addition, a detailed action plan has been produced as an appendix.

Priorities

The Strategy sets out the Council’s three main priorities for carers:

  • Reaching out to more carers
  • Ensuring that carers who need help from social services have access to a range of flexible services that meet their needs and those of the person they care for
  • Ensuring that services are available via the voluntary sector for carers who may not be eligible to receive help directly from the Council

This national strategy set out the Government’s short and long term vision for carers over the next 10 years. It also included the announcement of £150m additional funding for respite to be funded by health services.

Copies of the national strategy are available from the Department of Health website.
