Carers

What is a carer?

Wokingham Borough Council’s definition of a carer is someone who, without payment, regularly provides substantial care to another adult who due to age, disability or illness would not be able to manage without this help.

About one in ten people in the UK are carers; sometimes carers are called 'family' or 'informal' carers to distinguish them from care workers.

Wokingham Borough Council aims to ensure that all carers get the information, advice and support they need regardless of age, ethnicity, race etc.
