The Colleton Primary School

On February 7th 2007, The Colleton Primary School in Twyford hosted the second WIC Curriculum Conference.  This was a splendid day,   with delegates seeing and learning at first hand how this open plan, team teaching school works with children.  We were pleased to have with us, Nicola Bloom,  who is the Primary Strategy Regional Adviser for the South East of England.  She said:

'The school teaches through a sensible and exciting cross-curricular approach, underlaid by a very thorough understanding of pedagogy.  The children patently enjoy learning and are secure, happy and independent.'

A big 'thank you' to The Colleton Primary School staff for giving us a day to remember.  Shortly to arrive on this WIC page will be the presentations from the day.  To whet your appetite, some of the comments from the delegates after the day at The Colleton were:

Super day, thank you

It was a great day and thanks to all staff and children for sharing with us

You have certainly given me some things to think about and possible actions to take!  Thank you

An excellent day, very informative and thought provoking

Would like to visit more schools – such a valuable activity

Extremely useful and interesting day – I have always loved marmite

Colleton is a brave school that sticks to its beliefs - confident young learners - staff so willing to share and L & M so buoyant and facilitating

A very enjoyable day.  An excellent curriculum with independent learning.  Thank you Colleton school.

What a fantastic experience!  A brilliant day.  To see genuinely independent learning from F to Y6, in action, regardless of ability or gender, has been inspirational.  One can only admire the strategic vision of leadership team and commitment of whole school.

Very impressed with the confidence of the children when talking to them.  A delight to look around your school.

A great day, thought provoking and time to reflect.  Fabulous atmosphere, great team work

Thank you Colleton for a great opportunity and day.  Very brave but very valuable and enjoyable.
