Aims of the service
The service exists to support schools to:
Ensure access to education for Gypsy Roma Traveller children

Promote regular attendance
-
Enhance educational achievement.
Traveller children who get extra support
The regulations setting out which Gypsy Roma Traveller children may get extra support identify the following:
- Gypsy Roma Traveller pupils living on sites
- Gypsy Roma Traveller pupils who are housed
- Gypsy Roma Traveller families living on the roadside
- Fairground and Circus Travellers
- New Travellers
- Boat Dwellers
Who we are
The work of the service is carried out by:

Lorraine Hodgson, Advisory Teacher for Traveller Education.
The support we offer
Support and advice are usually given in one or more of the following ways:

Admissions and all aspects of Gypsy Roma Traveller education

Assessment of the needs of pupils, schools and families

Funding for Teaching Assistant support to settle in new children

Support teaching from specialist teachers

Resources to reflect cultural diversity

Curriculum development for inclusion, OFSTED - the Office for Standards in Education - requirements

Training and awareness-raising sessions.
