‘Music for All’ is a project set up by Wokingham Borough Council Children's Services to develop a programme of high quality concerts and events which provide public performance opportunities for as many primary age children in the area as possible. Performances are produced by Clive Waterman, a Music Consultant to the Council and former Wokingham headteacher. Each year, 2 concerts take place in The Hexagon in Reading and between them involve about 900 children from more than half of the primary and junior schools in the area.
The concerts are put on by the Wokingham Area Schools Music Association - WASMA. For the past 60 years, WASMA has provided the opportunity for pupils in Wokingham schools to make music together. WASMA is organised by the schools, for the schools.
Some performances make use of cameras projected to a live screen and are recorded so that parents can purchase a DVD.
We currently have fairly regular groups of schools which participate in the two concerts. However, we are always looking to increase the number of schools who are involved. If your school has not participated in recent years and you would like to find out more, please contact Clive Waterman or David Congdon for more details.
