We are required by law to review the air quality in the Borough to determine whether people are being exposed to:
- Nitrogen Dioxide
- Particulates
- Carbon Monoxide
- Benzene
- 1,3-Butadiene
- Sulphur Dioxide
- Lead
- Ozone
This is an ongoing process. Some years an update and screening assessment is required. Depending on the results of this other years a detailed assessment or a progress report may be required.
Our assessments
The annual mean nitrogen dioxide level near the M4 motorway is likely to exceed the recommended value, so we have declared it an Air Quality Management Area - AQMA.
Whilst we focus much of our monitoring and assessment on this area we also continue to monitor across the rest of the Borough to inform the reporting process.
Below are copies of our review and assessment reports to date. This also includes correspondence from Defra who assess our reports.
