Why can't I use my van to take domestic waste to the tip
There is a weight limit of 4 tonnes = 4,000 Kg Gross Vehicle Weight - GVW - for any vehicle using the site facilities. This applies to both household and trade waste. Gross Vehicle Weight is the maximum weight permitted for the vehicle when fully loaded. This is usually stamped on the data plate and written in the vehicle registration documents. It may also be referred to as the 'revenue weight'.
Are there any restrictions on the amount of rubble/hardcore that I can take to the household recycling centre / tip?
Small quantities can be taken to the household waste recycling centre - householders only. If you have large amounts of rubble and hardcore we recommend that you hire a skip or use one of the skips in our community skip programme.
