Report an abandoned vehicle

We only investigate abandoned vehicles that meet one or more criteria:

  • It has no keeper on DVLA’s database and is untaxed - check vehicle tax online
  • It’s stationary for a significant amount of time
  • It’s significantly damaged, run down or unroadworthy, for example has flat tyres, missing wheels or broken windows
  • It’s burned out
  • A number plate is missing

Untaxed vehicles that are being kept/used on the public highway that do not meet any of the above criteria should be reported to the DVLA.

Parked illegally or inconsiderately

The council are unable to enforce obstructive or dangerous parking unless the vehicle is parked on a restricted area (e.g. double yellow lines). If the vehicle is causing a major obstruction or serious danger please report it to the police on 101.

Parked on private land

If the vehicle is on private land, the landowner needs to contact us and give written permission for an officer to investigate. Please complete the form below to allow our officers to investigate fully.
