Stray dog collection service

Silver award logo from RSPCA
RSPCA silver award logo
New regulations came into force on 6 April 2008 which means that we are now responsible for accepting stray dogs 24 hours a day. We offer an improved service and will actually come out to collect stray dogs that have been caught and secured.

Police will no longer be able to accept stray dogs so please do not contact the police or take the dog to a police station

Anyone holding a stray dog should call our Animal Warden on the number shown below.

You will be asked to give:

  • Your name
  • Your address
  • Your contact details and
  • The place where the dog was found

If we are busy you may be asked if you are able to hold onto the dog for a while but normally the Animal warden or the ‘out of hours’ contractor will come to collect the dog as soon as possible. The dog will then be taken to a secure kennel while steps are taken to re-unite with their owner

When the office is closed we will not be able to collect dogs that have not been secured or contained in some way. We cannot deal with dogs that are running loose or have just been seen running around the neighbourhood.
