Purpose of the Mini Plan

The Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area Mini Plan was adopted by the Council in July 2009 as a way of dealing with the impact of new development arising within the Borough on the Thames Basin Heaths.

What information does the Mini Plan contain?

The mini plan looks at issues such as:

• The legislative background to the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area designation

• The areas in the Wokingham Borough requiring mitigation

• Implications of population change around the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area

• Options to providing suitable alternative natural greenspace (SANG)

• Calculation of the tarriffs necessary to provide and maintain SANG

• The Council's conclusions as to the approach that will be taken in  delivering mitigation for new development
