Sustainable development is a means of meeting the needs of humans whilst preserving the environment for ourselves and future generations.
The Council are doing a number of things to encourage sustainable development including:
The adoption of a Sustainable Design and Construction Supplementary Planning Document
Policies within the Core Strategy to encourage sustainable living, construction methods and building design
A Sustainable Environment Strategy which sets out priorities for improving the Local Environment over the next 10 years
The development of strategic Masterplans to ensure that new housing and community facilites are planned for in a sustainable way.
