Wokingham District Local Plan

The Wokingham District Local Plan was adopted by the Council on 11 March 2004.

The Future of the Plan

The Local Plan continues to hold weight in planning decisions within the Wokingham Borough, however not all of the policies within the plan are still valid. This is because on 28 September 2004, the 'Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act' introduced a new planning system whereby Local Plans were replaced by 'Local Development Frameworks' (LDFs). Some of the Local Plan policies have been superseded by the Core Strategy policies. The remaining Local Plan policies will be replaced by the emerging Managing Development Delivery DPD.

Proposals Map

The Local Plan Proposals Map is also available online though our Interactive Mapping System on our website. Due to the size of the document (12 MB), the Local Plan Proposals map is not available as a PDF document. Hard copies are available at the Council offices at Shute End.

Copy of the Local Plan

A residual version of the Local Plan is available at the bottom of this page. This is a copy of the Local Plan containing only those policies which have been saved. Attached at the right hand side of this page is a document called 'Guidance on Saved Local Plan Policies' which lists the saved policies in the Local Plan, whilst the document 'Reasoning for Saved Policies' also lists those that were rejected and why.
