Wokingham District Local Plan

The Wokingham District Local Plan was adopted by the Council on 11 March 2004.

The Future of the Plan

The Local Plan continues to hold weight in planning decisions within the Wokingham Borough, however not all of the policies within the plan are still valid. This is because on 28 September 2004, the 'Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act' introduced a new planning system whereby Local Plans were replaced by 'Local Development Frameworks' (LDFs).

Saved Policies

In the interim of the Council writing and adopting the Wokingham Borough Local Development Framework, it has applied to the Secretary of State to save some  policies in the Local Plan. These have to be policies specific to local planning issues and must not repeat national guidance. More information can be found on the 'Saved Policies' page.

Proposals Map

The Local Plan Proposals Map is also available online, however, due to the large amount of data: 12 MB, the speed of your internet connection will affect how easy it is to view this information. Mapping system guidance notes are available if this service does not work.

Copy of the Local Plan

Electronic

A residual version of the Local Plan is available at the bottom of this page. This is a copy of the Local Plan containing only those policies which have been saved. A full copy of the Local Plan is however still available, but must be read with the 'Council's Reasoning for Saved Policies'.

Buy a Copy

Copies of the Adopted Plan are available for £35.00 plus £5.00 postage and packing. If you would like to purchase a copy, please send a cheque for the appropriate amount - made payable to 'Wokingham Borough Council' to Diane McGloin in the Development Plans team.
