Background

Wokingham has a borough-wide transport model that represents average weekday traffic conditions in 2010 during the morning, evening and inter-peak periods.  The model has the forecast years 2017 and 2026 to represent development and infrastructure provision envisaged by the Local Development Framework and adopted Core Strategy. The Wokingham Strategic Transport Model (WSTM) comprises a highway model built using SATURN and a public transport model developed using VISUM. It also has a variable demand model (VDM) using DIADEM.

The base year WSTM has been developed in accordance with the Department for Transport's web-based Transport Analysis Guidance (WebTAG) and the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) Volume 12.

The Council also has a microsimulation model of Wokingham town centre (WTCM) built using VISSIM for the morning and evening peak hours of 2010, 2017 and 2026. The WTCM has been developed in accordance with the Highways Agency Microsimulation Guidance and DMRB. All scenario tests undertaken in WTCM are based on information provided by the WSTM.
