The majority of land used for employment purposes in the Borough is located within a business park or an industrial estate. The Wokingham District Local Plan identifies the most significant of these, and in the text accompanying policy WEM2 designates them a number of 'Core Employment Areas'.
Core Employment Areas are protected by planning policies to ensure that business premises are not unduly lost to other uses, thereby supporting local employment and the local economy. Policy CP16 in the Core Strategy will replace the policy WEM2 once the Core Strategy has been adopted.
Where are they?
The Core Employment Areas within the Core Strategy will remain the same as in the Local Plan with the exception of the Manor at Shinfield:
-
Green Park Business Park, Reading
-
Headley Road East, Woodley
-
Hogwood Industrial Estate, Park Lane, Finchampstead
-
Molly Millars Industrial Estate, Wokingham
-
Ruscombe Business Park, Ruscombe
-
Sutton's Industrial Estate, Earley
-
Thames Valley Business Park, Earley
-
Toutley Industrial Estate, Wokingham
-
Winnersh Triangle Business Park, Winnersh.
Further scope for employment development
Policy CP16 of the Core Strategy identifies some scope for limited additional employment development that will be detailed in:
-
The Development Management DPD
-
Housing Site Allocations DPD
-
Within Strategic Development Locations (policies CP19 - CP22)
-

The location of the Core Employment Areas may be found by veiwing them on our Interactive Mapping System.
