Design Supplementary Planning Document Consultation

Why did we consult on the Draft Design Supplementary Planning Document?

Even though the Wokingham Borough Residential Design Guide and many of the Village Design Statements were already Council policy, we needed to update these documents to replace any out of date policies and bring them in line with new planning regulations. By doing this the Council has ensured that the Residential Design Guide and Village Design Statements continue to have weight in planning decisions.

The consultation

Once the Council had made the necessary changes to the Residential Design Guide and Village Design Statements, it held a public consultation over a 6 week period where people could write in with any comments thay had. The Consultation began on Wednesday August 26 2009 and ended on October 7 2009.

Changes to the Design Supplementary Planning Document following consultation

Some changes were made to the Draft Design Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) after the consultation. These changes can be found in the Statement of Consultation which is available to download on the right-hand side of this page. These changes were necessary to reflect some new policies that recently had been adopted in the Wokingham Borough Core Strategy.

Adoption of the Design Supplementary Planning Document

The Design Supplementary Planning Document was adopted by the Council on 18 February 2010.
