Design Supplementary Planning Document (SPD)

The Design Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) brings together the Wokingham Borough Residential Design Guide and Village Design Statements into one document. The accompaning 'Design SPD' document additonally offers advice to Village Design Groups on how to create their own Village Design Statements. A consultation on a replacement Borough Design Guide SPD is taking place between 21 December 2011 and 15 February 2012.

Even though the Wokingham Borough Residential Design Guide and many of the Village Design Statements were already Council policy, we needed to update these documents to replace any out of date policies and bring them in line with new planning regulations. By doing this the Council has ensured that the Residential Design Guide and Village Design Statements continue to have weight in planning decisions.

 The Design SPD was adopted by the Council on 18 February 2010. This was following a public consultation held between 26 August 2009 and 7 October 2009. More information on this consultation is available on the Draft Design SPD and Consultation page.
