Replacement glazing

All replacement windows and doors with over 50% of their area glazed, are subject to control under the Building Regulations. This means these small-scale works require notification to the council.

How to notify us

Notification to our Building Control Team, should be made using a Replacement Glazing application form. Along with the completed form, a fee is payable, as follows:

  • £90.83 including VAT (Value Added Tax) for domestic work
  • For commercial work and multiple house schemes, contact us to get a costing.

Inspections

One of our surveyors will inspect the work, to ensure that it complies with Building Regulations. Once the work is completed satisfactorily, a completion certificate will be issued. This final certificate should be kept with all other essential documentation relevant to the property, and passed to solicitors acting for any subsequent purchasers.

Help for companies that install windows

FENSA (Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme) enables companies that install replacement windows and doors to self-certify compliance under Building Regulations, without the need for a separate assessment from Building Control. For more details visit the the FENSA website.
