Part-night street lighting trial

Our trial part-night lighting scheme involves turning off around 1,000 street lights between about midnight and 5.30am. Read our Part Night Lighting Frequently Asked Questions for more details.

What are the benefits of this trial scheme?

Reducing the amount of time that lights are switched on will:

  • Save up to £18,000, per 1,000 street lights, in taxpayers’ money a year
  • Reduce carbon dioxide emissions
