Privately owned trees

Council owned trees

Dangerous trees

For emergencies relating to council-owned trees, call our emergency telephone number. For emergencies relating to privately owned trees, contact a local tree contractor. If a tree is hazardous to either people or property we will carry out the appropriate works to make the tree safe.

  • Emergency requests i.e. dangerous or fallen trees deemed to be a hazard will be dealt with on the same day as reported, or next working day if reported out of normal business hours.
  • Less urgent requests will be dealt within 20 working days.

Tree pruning

We are unable to prune and/or remove trees unless they are causing a danger to pedestrians or vehicles. Landowners have the Common Law right to prune back any part of a tree which overhangs their property. It is the landowner’s responsibility to ensure that a tree is not protected in any way before carrying out any works.
